Our Christian vision is: ‘Working together, Valuing Everyone, Learning for Life’
In order to fulfil this vision, both of our schools work closely together with shared aims to:
- create a happy, educationally exciting and positive environment in which all pupils can develop to their full potential and become confident, independent individuals.
- identify, assess, record and regularly review pupils' special educational needs, encouraging parents and the child to be involved in planning support.
- upskill staff to support all areas of need including learning, emotional and physical needs through offering a wide range of robust CPD throughout the school year
- We are extremely proud of our SEND provision and of our inclusive curriculum that enables all children to flourish
We have close working relationships with a range of external professionals and are delighted that our ethos of inclusion has been recognised by, most recently, our SIAMS (statutory inspection of Anglican and Methodist School) inspection in March 2023:
Support for disadvantaged pupils and those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) empowers them and equips each one to live life in all its fullness. These pupils blend seamlessly into the school community.”
“Leaders have developed innovative strategies that allow all pupils to be seamlessly integrated into all aspects of the school’s life. This is in response to a significant increase in the number of pupils with SEND……… Leaders are tenacious in pursuing the provision of additional support for those pupils who need it most.”
Our previous Ofsted inspection (May 2018) also recognised this ethos:
“Disadvantaged pupils and those who have special educational needs (SEN) and/or disabilities make good progress. Leaders check all pupils’ progress closely and act quickly to address any gaps in pupils’ learning…..
Leaders take appropriate steps to make sure that all groups of pupils have an equal chance to succeed. Strong provision for pupils who have SEN and/or disabilities ensures that funding is used effectively to meet a wide range of needs…..
The associate headteacher is the coordinator for the provision for pupils who have SEN and/or disabilities. She is very experienced in her role and offers a wealth of knowledge…..
Pupils’ needs are accurately identified, and appropriate interventions are put in place. These pupils make good progress from their individual starting points and funding is used well to support their needs……
The school is quick to identify any pupils who are at risk of falling behind. Staff make effective provision for these pupils through activities which are well matched to their individual needs and abilities. Low-attaining pupils make good progress in all subjects because they receive good-quality, targeted support……”
